ABOUT ABOUT

Curtis says: “Some previous drawing experience would be helpful or if you have taken our previous course: ‘Anyone Can Learn To Draw.’ “I’ll help get you into more advanced stages of drawing with lots of tips and encouragement! Everyone’s got the ability, it just has to be learned and practiced!  We’ll cover topics such as seeing in 3 dimensions when building your structures,  perspective, proportions and rendering to give your drawings depth and life!”  Class is for ages 16+.

This will also be useful for painters who want to paint more realistically and learn about lighting, shadows and composition. Maybe it’s something you wanted to do when you were younger - now you can do it! Do it for fun or turn it into a career, as long as you enjoy it you can’t lose!”

In this class we will briefly review highlights from the beginner’s class and cover the following topics:

  • Basic shapes in 3 dimensions
  • Perspective
  • Shading and lighting
  • Crosshatching techniques
  • Portraits and getting the likeness of faces
  • Standard proportions of the head
  • Standard proportions of the body
  • Resources for practicing figure drawing (Timed Figure Drawing site)
  • Foreshortening
  • Composition
  • Sketchbook tips
  • Future classes
  • Q&A
