ABOUT ABOUT

Tom Berger helps you take your favorite audition pieces, full songs in performance, and songs you just love to sing and deconstructs them to understand each piece on a fundamental level. More than an audition workshop, “Acting a Song” explores the minute parts of a song and deciphers what the lyrics, melody, and arrangement tell the performer about the writers' intent. This leads the performer to a more fully developed and mature appreciation of the song and the character. Get one-on-one, interactive, and productive feedback in finding the character behind the song and making it your own. $30 per student, ages 14 & up! Please be sure to provide your email address so we can send you more information!

Class will take place in our Great Room. Students will be appropriately distanced at tables, be required to wear masks when not singing, and will receive more information on how to prepare via email a few days before class begins.

Tom Berger’s work as a director, music director, choreographer, and teaching artist has been seen all over the country in something like 400-odd productions. He has credits as varying as off-Broadway, national tours, major regional theatre, and educational productions with everything from high schools in the Bronx to Ivy League universities. Locally, Tom has worked with STC, Kiel Area Theatre, UW-Sheboygan, and the Sheboygan, Kewaunee, and Plymouth school districts, among others. He currently serves as Artistic Director of Seven Ages Theatricals, Creative Director of the new Manitowoc venue Parkview Playhouse, and an artistic consultant for Lakeshore Productions, Inc., where he'll return to (hopefully) direct and choreograph The Wizard of Oz in 2021. He lives in Sheboygan with his favorite production, the 10-year-old Sebastian.
